Orlando, FL : Teen hit by car on South Semoran Boulevard on Thursday night, December 22, 2016

A 16-year-old girl has died in Orlando after being hit by a car Thursday night.

Orlando police say it happened around 6:30 p.m. on South Semoran Boulevard, just south of Lake Margaret Drive.

An off-duty OPD officer was in the area at the time of the crash and assisted the Orlando Fire Department in trying to save the teen's life.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

South Semoran Boulevard was shut down for several hours.
