ORLANDO, FL : School bus involved in Orlando crash on Wednesday, November 30, 2016
An investigation is underway into a crash involving a school bus with students on board, according to the Orlando Police Department.
The crash occurred Wednesday morning along Thornton Avenue, near Howard Middle School.
Police said the crash involved a school bus and a Toyota Prius.
Lorena Hitchcock, senior specialist of Media Relations for Orange County Public Schools, told News 13 that there were students on board the bus as it was heading towards Howard Middle School.
The accident happened at around 9:15 a.m., she said.
Hitchcock added that the Orlando Fire Department and the Orlando Police Department were investigating the accident.
According to the fire department, one person who was in the Prius was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center and three students from the bus were taken to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
All of the patients had minor injuries, the fire department stated, adding that 47 students were on the bus at the time of the accident.
The rest of the students walked to the middle school, the department said.
