Portland, OR : Speeding car sideswipes house, hits shop in SE Portland early Thursday morning, Nov 12, 2015
A car smashed into the side of a house before hitting a shob building early Thursday morning, sending a passenger to the hospital, Portland Fire & Rescue officials said.
The crash happened at a house on Southeast Jenne Road around 2:25 a.m. Thursday.
According to police, 24-year-old Jesse Allen McCormick was speeding when he missed a corner at SE Jenne Road. His car jumped a boulder, sideswiped a house, hit a tree and crashed into a shop building.
McCormick wasn't seriously hurt in the crash, however his passenger was taken to OHSU with non-life threatening injuries.
The woman living at the house wasn't hurt in the crash. Officials said she had gotten out of bed and walked to a different part of the house just moments before the car smashed through the bedroom wall.
McCormick was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on third-degree assault, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and reckless driving. He'll be arraigned on Friday.
