Fort Worth, TX : 12-year-old killed, grandma critically injured after crashing into Fort Worth tree in the 2200 block of East Lancaster Street on Sunday, 6th January 2019

A 12-year-old girl and her grandmother died Sunday morning when the woman crashed into a tree in East Fort Worth.
Three other children were also in the car when it hit the tree in the 2200 block of East Lancaster Street, near Beach Street, about 10:30 a.m., police spokesman Bradley Perez said. The other children were not seriously hurt.
The girl was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Perez said. Her 71-year-old grandmother was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth, where she later died.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the girl as Ava Mickens and her grandmother as Odessa Mickens.
No details about what led to the crash have been provided.
