Houma, LA : Gibson woman killed in crash on Monday, February 6th 2017
A 46-year-old Gibson woman was killed today in a single-vehicle crash on North Bayou Black Drive, State Police reported.
According to State Police Troop C spokesman Jesse LaGrange, 46-year-old Amy MacDougall of Gibson was killed shortly after 5 p.m. after the 2003 Ford F-150 she was driving ran off of North Bayou Black Drive as it was negotiating a left curve in the roadway and struck a driveway embankment where it rolled over.
MacDougall, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash, LaGrange said. She was pronounced dead by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.
Impairment is not suspected as a factor in accident, but standard toxicology tests are pending, LaGrange said.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
