Opelika, AL : A Georgia man was killed shortly after midnight on April, Saturday 29th 2017
A Georgia man was killed shortly after midnight Saturday when his car left a Lee County road and struck trees.
He was not wearing a seat belt, and state police are investigating if speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, according to Alabama State Troopers.
Ryan Nicholas Turner, 29, of LaGrange, Georgia, was killed when the 2015 Kia Optima he was driving left the roadway and struck trees. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred on Lee County 379 near the 5,000 block, approximately 4 miles north of Smiths Station.
The preliminary investigation indicates that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, according to the Troopers' report. Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate.
