Johnstown, PA : A Northern Cambria man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Monday June 5, 2017
A Northern Cambria man was killed Monday night in a motorcycle crash on Route 271 in Barr Township.
Brandon Bassett, 31, was traveling north on Route 271 in a section known as Nicktown Hill Road when he lost control of his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle shortly after 8 p.m., Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees said.
A news release issued by state police in Ebensburg said Bassett was unable to keep the motorcycle upright as he maneuvered through a lefthand curve.
The bike eventually slid and hit a stone retaining wall, ejecting Bassett, police said.
Bassett was pronounced dead at the scene, Lees said.
Lees said Bassett died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the head, neck and chest, although he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Bassett’s manner of death has been ruled accidental, and toxicology tests are pending, Lees added.
State police said speed was a factor in the crash.
