ANDERSON, SC : Anderson Co. driver killed after vehicle struck deer, ran off road into ditch, trees on Wednesday, 28th September 2016
The Anderson County coroner was called to the scene of a fatal crash on Wednesday night.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Due West Highway about 7 miles south of Anderson, just before 9:40 p.m.
The driver of a 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer was reportedly traveling north on Due West Hwy when he struck a deer. Upon striking the deer, the vehicle ran off the road, striking a drainage ditch, several trees and a sign.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
