Martinsville, VA : Bicyclist killed in King George crash on Sunday, September 11, 2016

A King George County man died from injuries he sustained Sunday when his bicycle crossed into the path of a car and was struck, state police said.

Maurice E. Minter, 56, died at Mary Washington Hospital, Sgt. Steve Vick said. The accident took place at 7:50 p.m. at Ridge Road and Cedar Hill Lane in King George.

According to Vick, the bicyclist crossed Ridge Road into the path of a westbound 2013 Volkswagen. Vick said the road is not lit and the bike had no flashing reflectors, and the motorist was unable to avoid Minter, who was not wearing a helmet.

No charges were filed against the driver.
