Seguin, TX : Man hurt in 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 on Monday morning, September 26, 2016
A Seguin man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle wreck that snarled traffic on Interstate 10 on Monday morning.
First responders responded to a call at 7 a.m. on IH10 near mile marker 604 eastbound for a wreck that involved a pick-up, a car and a Mack truck, Seguin Police spokesperson.
A 1998 Ford F-150 was traveling west on IH10 when the driver lost control, causing him to cross the center median through a cable barricade and into oncoming traffic, Contresas said.
The 2007 Nissan 350 and the 2015 Mack truck, both traveling east collided with the pickup truck, Contreras said.
“In an attempt to avoid the crash, the car swerved, but the pickup struck the side of the car, which sent (the truck) into a spin,” he said. “It was then that the pickup hit the Mack truck head-on.”
Contreras said the driver of the pickup, whose identity has not yet been released, other than to say he was from Seguin, was thrown from the vehicle.
Seguin EMS treated the driver, and then transported him to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Contreras said.
“He is currently listed as in stable condition at the hospital,” he said. “The driver of the car was treated at the scene and then transported to GRMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the Mack truck was treated and released at the scene.”
While the cause of the wreck is under investigation, police say weather may have been a factor.
