St. Louis, LA : Deadly crash in St. Louis takes the lives of four from Louisville on Friday, 14th February, 2020

Four Louisville residents, including a firefighter and former University of Louisville volleyball standout, were killed in a three-vehicle accident in St. Louis Friday morning.

Carrie McCaw and her daughter Kacey were killed, according to a Missouri State Highway Portal crash report and a University of Louisville statement, along with Lesley Prather and her daughter Rhyan. The crash occurred at 10:38 a.m. on Interstate 64 as they were on their way to a volleyball tournament in Kansas City.

According to the Missouri police report, one of the vehicles traveled off the road through a barrier and started to flip over before striking two other vehicles head on. The driver and one of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the other passengers were transported to the hospital, where they later died.

Prather was once a star the player for the Cardinals, according to the University of Louisville athletics department. She led Louisville to three Conference USA titles, four NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen from 1998-2001. She graduated in 2002 and served as head volleyball coach at IU Southeast from 2009-12 before joining the Louisville Fire Department.
