Oklahoma City, OK : Truck crashes into Deer Creek area store on Tuesday, December 30, 2014

A truck hit the Deer Creek Shell store at the intersection of West Edmond Road and Portland Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and knocked out two window panes.
Only a brick column prevented the truck from entering the store.

“He claimed that he was standing on the breaks while the car accelerated forward at full speed into the column,” said Julie Solheim, whose family owns the store.

Since no one was hurt, Solheim said her father and her started cleaning up, along with help from others.

The driver just wanted to take a seat inside and wait for a ride.

“When I asked if he could possibly help, he smirked at me and walked away,” Solheim said. “So then I came back in and said ‘I don’t need to be rude but this was a situation that was caused by you.’”

The driver defended himself by calling the crash an accident.

“I said, 'I understand that accidents happen, but you could certainly help us clean it up if you don’t mind' and he said, ‘No.’ He hurt his elbow and he lifted it up and there was a scratch,” Solheim said.

Solheim and her father told the man he could not stay on the property.

“He started getting very angry, very upset, very aggressive,” Solheim said.

She said police had to escort the man off the property and only his wife apologized for the crash. Solheim said the driver did not receive a citation.

It is not yet clear what the monetary amount of the damage is, but the store remains open for business.
