ST. CHARLES, MO : Fatal crash temporarily shuts down I-70 in St. Charles on Friday, 28th July 2023

A driver killed in an overnight crash on I-70 in St. Charles that shut down the highway for several hours, has been identified.

James Melton, of Wentzville, has been identified as the deceased driver in this crash.

The crash occurred at 12:30 a.m. Friday, near Zumbehl Road; a congested area with lots of construction cones and lane closures due to an ongoing MoDOT project at the Zumbehl overpass. MoDOT says crews are placing girders over I-70 until 5:30 a.m.

The crash involved a semi-truck and a pick-up truck. News 4 was on the scene trying to learn what led up to this crash.
