Tucson, AZ : Marana police ID driver killed in wreck with semi-truck on Tuesday, February 14th 2017

Marana police have identified the victim of a Tuesday night fatal crash involving a semi-truck.

Jose Javier Barajas-Barron, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene, shortly after 5:30 p.m., Marana Police Department spokesman, Sgt. Chris Warren, said Wednesday.

Marana police and Northwest Fire went to the 7000 block of West Tangerine Road, near North Dove Mountain Boulevard, for reports of a crash involving a car and semi-truck, Warren said.

The driver of the semi-truck was evaluated for injuries at the scene but declined transport to the hospital, Warren said.

Marana police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, but preliminary findings show that Barajas-Barron's car crossed the center line and hit the semi-truck head on, Warren said.
