Cincinnati, OH : Woman dies in Eighth Street Viaduct crash on Monday, December 22, 2014

A 43-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lower Price Hill while trying to secure a piece of furniture to her car, Cincinnati police said.

Stacey Curtis stopped in the middle of Eighth Street just before midnight Monday and got out of her vehicle, according to a news release from the Cincinnati Police Department.

While outside, she was struck from behind and thrown against her car, according to the crash report. Curtis, of Price Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 45-year-old passenger in Curtis' car was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with "serious," but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to the release.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to factors in the crash, police said.
