Hudson, FL : Member of Pasco country band killed in motorcycle crash in Hudson on Sunday night, November 27, 2016

A New Port Richey motorcyclist and member of a local country band was killed Sunday night when a car turned into his path in Hudson.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Robert Leroy Cartwright, 33, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson southbound on U.S. 19 around 8:45 p.m. when Francine Chery, 56, turned in front of him while in the northbound left lane approaching Beach Boulevard.

Cartwright struck the back of Chery's 2006 4-door Suzuki and was ejected, troopers said.

Cartwright, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson and later died from his injuries, troopers said.

Chery was transported to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP said.
