Orlando, FL : One critically injured after car and semi truck crash on Wednesday February 17 2016
A crash involving a car and semi truck shut down Orange Blossom Trail at Rosamond Drive on Wednesday morning, just northwest of John Young Parkway, officials said.
The incident happened at 5:40 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang driven by 27-year-old Ladarius Lathan rear-ended a semi truck and went underneath it.
The semi-truck, driven by 41-year-old Steven Bell, was pulling out of a driveway, preparing to make a left turn onto US-441, troopers said. The truck stopped in the intersection, blocking both northbound lanes. As a result, the Mustang collided with the left side ot the truck's trailer. Lathan was partially wedged underneath the semi, troopers said. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Orange Blossom Trail was shut down as crews worked to clear the scene. OBT has since reopened.
Troopers say charges in the crash are pending.
