Clarksville, AR : Oark School senior killed in crash on south of Highway 215 in Johnson County on Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016

Arkansas State Police say Todd Michael Smith, 19, of Clarksville, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree Tuesday, May 10.

The crash happened at 9:26 a.m. on state Highway 103 south of Highway 215 in Johnson County. The fatality report noted that Smith was operating a 2003 GMC Envoy northbound on Highway 103 when he apparently lost control in a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The report was filed by Cpl. David L. Smothers. The body was being held at Hardwicks Funeral Home in Clarksville.
The Oark High School senior was to graduate with classmates Friday evening.

In a telephone message sent to parents Tuesday afternoon, Jasper School District Superintendent Jeff Cantrell announced the tragedy and said there will be support and extra counselors at the school for students this week. He also announced that the Oark Academic Banquet set for Tuesday night will be rescheduled.
