El Paso County, CO : Woman dies after two-vehicle accident on montana Vista area Friday May 13, 2016

A woman died due to injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in the Montana Vista area, officials said.

Juana Castro, 53, was pronounced dead at a local hospital due to serious injuries she sustained in the wreck which resulted in seven people being taken to the hospital, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

The accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Julie Lane and Buntline Drive, officials said.

A preliminary investigation by sheriff deputies revealed that a blue Chevy Sonic was traveling north in the 3900 block of Buntline Drive, while a blue H2 Hummer was driving west in the 14600 block of Julie Lane, officials said.

The vehicles collided at the intersection of the roads. Officials said there are no stop signs posted at the intersection.

The crash resulted in seven out of eight people who were in the vehicles being injured. Six of the victims were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Castro suffered serious injuries and later died at the hospital, officials said.
