Norman Park, GA : Four people injured in a two-car crash on Highway 319 near Sinclair Road on Sunday, March 5, 2017
Four people were injured in a two-car crash Sunday on Highway 319 near Sinclair Road.
The Georgia State Patrol said a 2016 Dodge Journey struck the rear of a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 pickup about 1:30 p.m. Both were traveling southbound in the outside lane of Highway 319.
The Journey came to rest in the ditch alongside the highway, while the pickup came to rest in the outside lane of Highway 319, the GSP said.
The trooper’s report said the driver of the Journey, Victoria Williams, 33, of McRae, said she was distracted by her children in the back seat. She took her eyes off the road to turn around and look at the kids, and that’s when she hit the back of the pickup, the state patrol said.
Williams and two 8-year-old children, Keontae Gammage and Kedarrian Gammage, both of Moultrie, were treated and released at the emergency room, a Colquitt Regional Medical Center spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The GSP said the driver of the pickup, Edward Gissendanner, 49, of Ozark, Ala., was taken by ambulance to Colquitt Regional, but the hospital spokeswoman said she had no record of him being treated there. Federal privacy laws prevent hospitals from even disclosing that someone was treated there unless the patient has signed a waiver, which may or may not be the reason for the lack of information.
The GSP charged Williams with following too closely and gave her a warning about distracted driving.
