Kilauea, HI : A woman and her 6-year-old daughter were critically injured in a single-car crash at Kuhio Highway On Tuesday, August 16th, 2016

A woman and her 6-year-old daughter were critically injured Tuesday night in a single-car crash in Kilauea.

Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The 33-year-old mother was driving on Kuhio Highway about 9 p.m., when her Nissan sedan apparently lost control and struck a guardrail before it crashed into a tree.

The woman and her daughter were taken to Wilcox Hospital. The child was later transported to the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu.
