Mount Zion, IL : Mattoon man hurt in motorcycle, truck accident Wednesday, October 5, 2016

A Mattoon man sustained serious injuries when his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck hauling grain Wednesday.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Elwin Blacktop and Karl Road, according to a news release from the Macon County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived, they determined that the 54-year-old man was operating a 1981 Honda motorcycle, traveling westbound on Elwin Blacktop. The motorcycle attempted to pass several semi-trucks near the intersection with Karl Road.

The lead semi was turning south onto Karl Road, and the motorcycle ran into and underneath the semi.
