Steamboat Springs, CO : Several people injured after a two-vehicle accident involving Transit bus on U.S. 40 near Steamboat Springs on Tuesday afternoon, March 29, 2016
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
A two-vehicle accident involving a Steamboat Springs transit bus and a Ford Explorer late Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Routt County Road 42 sent several people to the hospital, one with reportedly serious injuries. The crash also temporarily closed the highway west of Steamboat.
A heavy afternoon snowstorm, which quickly covered area roads, likely contributed to the accident, which sent the transit bus, which was westbound, off the roadway and into an embankment.
One occupant of the Explorer had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported with injuries that were thought to be serious.
