CHARLESTON, SC : 2 teens arrested after fleeing from traffic stop, crashing stolen vehicle on Tuesday, 17th November, 2020

Authorities arrested two teenagers early Tuesday morning after running from a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Charleston Police Department, an officer initiated a traffic stop at Meeting and Market Street around 4:30 a.m.

The vehicle proceeded to stop, but as the responding officer approached the vehicle, the driver fled.

Investigators say the car then drove onto Broad Street where it struck a sidewalk and crashed into stairs at the downtown Charleston Post Office.

Two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were detained and have been charged as juvenile.

Police say the vehicle was reported stolen out of North Charleston.
