Authorities say an SUV driver who struck and killed a father and daughter on a motorcycle in Easthampton was under the influence of narcotics. Prosecutors and police said Friday that the motorcycle driver, 62-year-old Edward McGrath of Holyoke, was riding with his 29-year-old daughter Brittney McGrath of Brooklyn, New York. The McGraths were heading north on Route 5 just after 3 p.m. Thursday when police said a southbound car driven by 45-year-old James Ainsworth of Springfield crossed into their lane and hit them head-on. Ainsworth pleaded not guilty Friday in Northampton to charges including felony motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence and heroin possession. He is held on $100,000 cash bail. His passenger, 27-year-old Christina Dunlap of Greenfield, is held on $2,500 cash bail after pleading not guilty to heroin possession and a Florida fugitive charge.
