Harwich, MA : One person was taken to the hospital after a two-car accident on June 29th 2014.
One person was taken to the hospital after a two-car accident on Bank Street near the intersection with Lovers Lane Sunday morning. The driver of a Toyota Camry — Robert Clouter, 81, of Harwich — was traveling south on Bank Street when he crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Impala driven by Justin Rivituso, 24, of Albany, New York, Harwich police officer Aram Goshgarian said.
Rivituso and a woman walking nearby said it appeared that Clouter was veering away from some joggers who were up on the sidewalk on his side of the road but never returned to his lane, Goshgarian said.
One of the joggers was able to get into the car with Clouter and get it out of the road and in park because he was having some sort of medical issue, Goshgarian said. It's unclear whether the medical problem was the cause or result of the accident, which was called into police at 10:08 a.m. he said.
Clouter was not wearing a seat belt and struck his head on the windshield of the car, Goshgarian said.
