Cherokee County, GA : Georgia man killed in Cherokee County at N.W. 130th and Hallowell Road crash on Tuesday, 4th September 2018

One person was killed Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Cherokee County in southeast Kansas, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 7:04 a.m. Tuesday at N.W. 130th and Hallowell Road. The location was about three miles west of the town of Hallowell.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2018 Ford pickup truck was traveling northwest on Hallowell Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree before comiing to rest in a field.

The driver, Franklin William Lewis, 70, of Guyton, Ga., was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said Lewis was wearing a seat belt.
