State authorities say a 15-year-old boy was the driver in a crash near High Point that killed one of his teenage passengers.
Local news outlets report that officials say 14-year-old Brayden Troxler died Tuesday from injuries sustained in Saturday night’s crash.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Everette Ribelin says the unidentified driver was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a stop sign and utility pole.
Troxler was a passenger in the vehicle along with a 15-year-old girl.
Ribelin says the other teen’s injuries were minor.
In the state, it’s illegal for a 15-year-old to drive without a parent or guardian in the front seat.
Officials say the driver has been referred to a juvenile counselor in Davidson County, where charges will be decided.
