Red Oak, TX : 47-year-old person injured in fatal hit-and-run collision in Ovilla Road on Sunday May 22, 2016.

The Red Oak Police Department is trying to find the driver of a pickup truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision and is asking for the public’s help to do so.
The wreck claimed the life of 47-year-old Red Oak resident Betsy Sue McClelland after she sustained life-threatening injuries at 12:09 a.m. Sunday. McClelland was walking eastbound in the 200 block of E. Ovilla Road at the time of the offense, according to a press release by the department.
“The driver of the involved vehicle fled the area without stopping to render aid to the injured party,” the press release stated.
McClelland was transported to Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie for medical treatment, but succumbed to her injuries there.
Detectives retrieved surveillance videos from several businesses in the area, including one that shows the pickup truck that allegedly collided with the victim pulling into the parking lot of a business.
The driver then fled the scene and turned right onto Sunflower Street, out of the parking lot. The vehicle appears in the top right-hand corner of the surveillance video, which can be seen on the Red Oak Police Department’s YouTube channel by searching “Red Oak Police Media.” Part of what makes this case difficult is the time of night that it happened, said Sgt. Marc
Schroeder, the Red Oak Police Public Information Officer, adding there is not a lot of traffic on Ovilla Road during the week. Police are looking for any witnesses that may have seen the collision occur.
