Davidsonville, MD : Edgewater woman dies after Davidsonville crash on Monday, 16th March, 2020
An Edgewater woman died Monday after a teenage driver crossed the center line and slammed into her SUV in Davidsonville, Anne Arundel County police said.
Christina Michele Lay, 49, was taken to a regional trauma center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Officers responded to the intersection of Route 424 and Rutland Road around 5:30 p.m. for reports of a serious crash, police said. They arrived to find that a Honda Civic and a Honda CR-V had collided.
Paramedics took both drivers to the trauma center. A 17-year-old from Crofton, who was driving the Civic, was seriously injured, according to police.
Officers’ preliminary investigation revealed the Honda sedan was driving north on Route 424 when the car crossed the center line and crashed into the SUV. Police said they do not know what caused the teenager to swerve out of the northbound lane.
Police said they do not believe alcohol or speed contributed to the crash. No charges have been filed but the crash remains under investigation.
