JACKSON COUNTY, MS : 2 killed in crash in Jackson County on Highway 63, near Polktown Road on Monday, 23rd July 2018

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Jackson County Monday afternoon that resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman.

The crash occurred on Highway 63, near Polktown Road, at approximately 5:05 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol.

When officers arrived on the scene, it appeared a blue 2008 Dodge Ram, driven by a 26-year-old Lucedale man, had been traveling north on Highway 63 when a red 1998 Ford Ranger driven by an 89-year-old Lucedale man crossed the northbound lanes of Highway 63 to travel east onto Polktown Road. The front of the Dodge crashed into the passenger side of the Ford, and both vehicles left the right side of the road where they came to final rest, according to a Highway Patrol news release.

The driver of the Dodge refused treatment on scene, officials said.
