CHATHAM, OH : 13-year-old girl dies following Medina County crash involving dump truck on Friday, 14th June 2024

A 13-year-old girl is dead following a crash involving a dump truck Friday afternoon in Medina County.

According to a release from the Medina County Sheriff's Office, the teen was riding in the front passenger seat of a Dodge minivan headed west on Chatham Road (state Route 162) in Chatham Township. The driver — a 38-year-old woman from Portage County — allegedly failed to yield at the intersection with Avon Lake Road (state Route 83), causing the van to be hit by a southbound dump truck around 3:50 p.m. Photos from the area show the intersection is a two-way stop, with no stop signs on Route 83.
