New Castle, PA : Five injured in head-on collision in Perry Township on Thursday morning, March 30, 2017

Five people were injured Thursday morning in a head-on collision at the intersection of Route 488 and Pleasant Hill Road in Perry Township.

According to state police on the scene, one person was flown to a hospital by helicopter, while four others were taken by ambulance after two cars collided around 10:30 a.m.

One car had rolled over, according to scanner reports, trapping the four passengers inside. State police said the car's door had to be cut off in order to remove the people inside.

The Wurtemburg-Perry Volunteer Fire Department was at the scene, along with state police.

The road remains closed.
