Ellensburg, WA : Yakima teen killed, two injured after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 82, south of Ellensburg Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016
A 16-year-old Yakima boy suffered fatal injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 82 5 miles south of Ellensburg Tuesday morning, the Washington State Patrol reports.
Robert D. Quinn was declared deceased at KVH Hospital in Ellensburg, according to a patrol news release.
Quinn was among six occupants of a Jeep Cherokee that struck a guardrail and then rolled in the median about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the State Patrol misidentified the driver. On Wednesday, the State Patrol issued a corrected news release stating that the Jeep Cherokee was actually driven by Dylan B. Coulter, 25, of Tacoma.
All five passengers of the vehicle were taken to various hospitals in Ellensburg and Yakima; two were later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Coulter was reported injured, but was not taken by ambulance to a hospital, according to the State Patrol.
A 15-year-old Yakima boy taken to KVH Hospital was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said Tuesday evening.
Zachary P. Flores, 24, of Yakima was waiting Tuesday evening to be transferred from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital to another medical facility, a nursing supervisor said. Further information was not available about him or the patients taken to Harborview.
Troopers said intoxicants were suspected of contributing to the crash. The cause of the crash and any charges to be filed remain under investigation.
