Pawnee woman injured in crash

A Loami man was cited following a two-vehicle crash Friday at Jefferson and Walnut streets.

Lawrence Renfro, 64, was heading west on Jefferson about 10:40 a.m. and entered the Walnut intersection on a red light. His minivan collided with a northbound car on Walnut driven by Freda Alexander, 76, of Pawnee, according to a Springfield police report.

Alexander told police she had been stopped at a red light and started into the intersection when her light turned green.

The police report said Alexander suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center, but the hospital had no record of treating her.

Renfro, who wasn’t injured, was cited for disobeying the traffic signal, the report said.
