Deadly crash closes I-4 in Orange County on may, Wednesday 17th 2017
A 25-year-old man was ejected from a vehicle, run over and killed early Thursday morning in a rollover crash that closed Interstate 4 for hours in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said Matthew Adams, of Kissimmee, died in the crash, which was reported around 12:35 a.m. on I-4 west near the Beachline. The FHP said Adams was driving a 2016 Volkswagen west on I-4 when he veered into another lane and struck a 2001 Ford SUV driven by a 28-year-old Lake Mary man. Both vehicles flipped several times, the FHP said.
Adams was ejected from his car and run over by a Dodge Charger driven by a 26-year-old Tampa man, who was unable to avoid him, troopers said.
Adams, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
No other injuries were reported. The FHP said the drivers of the of the other two cars were wearing their seat belts.
"I could probably count on one hand in 25 years had someone been wearing a seat belt they would have not survived," FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said. "We need people to buckle up so we can reduce the number of fatalities we have."
