The driver of a pickup left the road south of Chandler on Thursday and killed a 23-year-old Grand Saline man, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety official.
Sgt. Jean Dark said Austin Dale Boyles was a passenger in the car.
Reports show that just before 6 p.m., troopers responded to the crash on FM 315 just south of CR 4201, 10 miles south of Chandler. A 2007 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by 19-year-old Westin Dale Milliorn of Grand Saline was traveling north on FM 315 when the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the east edge of the road.
According to the report, the driver over-corrected to the left, causing the car to travel off the west side of the road where it hit a tree.
Milliorn was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler in serious condition. Boyles was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Milton Adams. The crash remains under investigation.
