At least two people are injured after a car crashed into the Lowe’s store on Boston Road Tuesday evening and police are trying to figure out what happened.
According to Springfield Fire Department Spokesman Dennis Leger, crews responded to the Lowe’s on 1600 Boston Road for an extrication of an older Sedan into the building. Leger said a woman shopper was struck by the car that came in through the front doors of the store.
Leger told 22News the woman was taken to an area hospital and her condition appeared to be non-life threatening.
Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News calls about the accident came in around 4:40 p.m., and that the driver and at least one customer were injured.
According to Leger, the vehicle went through the front doors and then about 120 ft deep into the building before stopping, just missing major roof support beams.
The Lowe’s store on Boston Road is currently closed.
