Baton Rouge, LA : Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash on Florida Boulevard near Sharp Road on Wednesday, 26th October 2016

A 31-year-old Baton Rouge motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Florida Boulevard near Sharp Road Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Baton Rouge Police Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating the crash, which took the life of Sam Edward Williams, 3258 Prescott Road, and are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of the vehicle who struck Williams motorcycle.

Williams was ejected from the motorcycle after he was struck around 4:11 p.m. in the 10000 block of Florida Boulevard by someone driving what police described as a "white, lifted, Chevrolet 1500 pickup" truck.

The driver of the pick up truck fled the scene without rendering aid or calling for police assistance, police said in a news release. Williams was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries, police said.
