RENO COUNTY, KS : Victim identified in deadly high-speed crash in Reno County on Friday, September 22nd 2017
The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the man who died following a high-speed crash in Reno County Friday afternoon.
Troopers say 30-year-old Zachary Mears, of Hutchinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say Mears was speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign, causing him to crash into a semi.
(09/22/2017) – The Reno County Sheriff’s Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident. It happened at Haven Road and Highway 50 around 1:45 p.m.
The Kansas Highway said they clocked a silver car going 95 mph.
Troopers said they weren’t able to catch up to the car. The car crashed into a tractor-trailer and caught on fire.
The driver of the car, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn’t injured.
The investigation into the accident is continuing. Westbound traffic is open. However, eastbound traffic is closed.
