More than 20 students were taken to a hospital Friday morning after a van rear ended the school bus they were riding in on Highway 52 just after 7 a.m., according to Florence School District Three Public Information Officer Brian Huckabee.
Huckabee said the bus was transporting 48 passengers, 47 students plus the driver, to Lake City High School, Paul Truluck Intermediate School and Ronald E. McNair Junior High School when it was rear ended.
He said 22 students were taken to a local hospital in a second bus and the other 25 students were taken in a third bus to their schools.
Once those 25 students got to their schools they were evaluated by the school nurses.
