Longview, WA : Two motorcyclists seriously injured in unrelated crashes in Longview on Saturday, July 23, 2016

A man who was erratically driving a motorcycle before he crashed into another vehicle and landed several hundred feet away was rushed to a Longview hospital Saturday night, authorities say.

Witnesses who called 911 said the motorcycle driver was moving unpredictably before he lost control and crashed into the other vehicle in the 500 block of Tennant Way, next to the Cowlitz River in Longview. His motorcycle caught fire after impact, shortly before 11:30 p.m., according to the Longview Fire Department.

The man, who was wearing a full-face helmet, was rushed to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

Longview police and the Washington State Patrol are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

More than six hours before the collision, shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, another motorcyclist crashed on the other side of Longview, in the 4400 block of Constitution Lane. Details that led up to the crash weren't available.

The motorcyclist was having difficulty breathing, wasn't fully conscious and was flown by helicopter to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. He was wearing a "half helmet," which doesn't cover the full head, including the face or the chin.
