Racine, WI : Pleasant Prairie police seeking van from hit and run crash on Thursday September 1 2016
Police are searching for a maroon van that allegedly crashed into a motorcycle on 80th Avenue Thursday morning, seriously injuring the motorcyclist, and left the scene.
Pleasant Prairie Police Chief David Smetana said police and Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue responded to 80th Avenue and Cooper Road at 9:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of an accident involving a motorcycle and a car.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 35-year-old Pleasant Prairie man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital prior to being flown to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa via Flight for Life helicopter, Smetana said.
Witnesses at the scene heard the crash and observed the injured motorcyclist in the intersection along with a second vehicle parked nearby, Smetana said.
Witnesses described the second vehicle as a newer, maroon colored van, similar to a Dodge Caravan, with tinted windows, he said.
Witnesses also noted damage to the front driver’s side of the vehicle prior to it leaving the area and heading north on Cooper Road. Pleasant Prairie police remained at the intersection until approximately 12:50 p.m. processing the scene, Smetana said.
