Portland ,OR : 55- Years old Thomas James Gazzola Critically injured after Hit by car and driver Charged on Wednesday ,June 3rd 2015
A pedestrian was critically injured when he was hit by a car while crossing a Northeast Portland street on Wednesday.
Thomas James Gazzola, 55, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was in critical condition as of Thursday evening.
Police said the crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. at Northeast 60th Avenue and Wasco Street.
Gazzola was hit while crossing 60th in an unmarked crosswalk.
Officers later arrested the driver, 63-year-old Richard Earl Dryden, after suspecting he was driving under the influence.
Dryden was later booked into the Multnomah County Jail on third-degree assault and DUII. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
Traffic was backed up for several hours while officers investigated the crash.
