Billings, MT : Victim from single-vehicle wreck near Grass Range identified on February, Thursday 15th 2018

The Fergus County Coroner has identified a 28-year-old Bozeman man who died in a single-vehicle rollover south of Grass Range Thursday morning as Timothy R. Sommers Jr.

Sommers was initially reported by the Montana Highway Patrol as a Belgrade resident. He was pronounced dead near the scene of the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Tyler Cutoff and Turkey Track Trail in Fergus County, according to MHP Trooper Patrick Criswell.

No one else was involved in the crash.

Sommers had been driving southbound on Tyler Cutoff when he appears to have taken a 90-degree bend in the road too fast, causing his truck to slide sideways before rolling off the snow-packed, wind-drifted road, Crisswell said.

He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected as the vehicle rolled off the side of the road, he said. After landing on the ground, Sommers was pinned under the vehicle.

Two people arrived at the scene of crash within 10 to 15 minutes, according to Crisswell. Both of them had emergency medical experience, but he said Sommers was unresponsive by the time they arrived.
