Sauk County, WI : 5 injured in head-on crash involving Corvette in Sauk County on Saturday, October 18, 2014
Five people were injured Saturday afternoon in a head-on crash between a Corvette and a Ford Escape in Sauk County.
The Sauk County Sheriff's Department said the crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday on Highway 60 just west of Troy Village Road in the Town of Troy.
The initial investigation shows a 58-year-old Arena man was headed east on Highway 60 in the Corvette when he lost control of the car in a curve. The vehicle veered into the westbound lane, where it hit a westbound Ford Escape with three passengers driven by a 69-year-old Madison woman.
The Corvette driver and a passenger in the Ford Escape were transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison by helicopter due to their injuries. The Escape driver and two of her passengers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The Sheriff's Department did not have any information on their condition.
The 58-year-old man is believed to have caused the crash because of high speed and failure to control the car, the sheriff's department said. The department is still investigating.
Sauk Prairie, Spring Green, Baraboo, Plain, Sauk City, Spring Green and Prairie Du Sac fire departments responded to the incident, too. So did the Spring Green Police Department and the Sauk County Highway Department and two UW Med Flight helicopters.
