POWHATAN COUNTY, VA : 19-year-old driver killed in Powhatan crash on Saturday, 13th February 2021

A 19-year-old Powhatan High School graduate was killed Saturday in a crash on Route 60 (Anderson Highway), according to Virginia State Police.

John M. Jeffers, 19, of Powhatan, was wearing a seatbelt when he crashed.

He died at the hospital.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that a 2008 Toyota Tocoma was heading east on Route 60 when it ran off the road right and struck a tree," a Virginia State Police spokesperson wrote in an email.

Winter weather was moving across Virginia at the time of the crash, which was reported at 8:57 a.m. in the 2700 block of Route 60, according to police.
