Monett, MO : Granby man killed, Monett man injured in wreck on Friday, December 16th 2016
A Granby man died in a wreck on Friday at 6:30 a.m. on Highway 60, five miles east of Granby.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, David Dooley, 56, of Granby, was driving a 2004 Ford Focus eastbound when his vehicle lost control on the icy roadway, crossed the center line and struck head-on a 1995 Chevrolet Corvette, being driven by Kevin George, 43, of Monett.
Dooley was pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Coroner Mark Bridges. He was transported to Clark's Funeral Home.
George suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Both were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.
This is the 111th fatal wreck of 2016 for Troop D of the Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Lawrence and Barry.
