Child in critical condition following motorcycle wreck

An 11-year-old child was listed in critical condition following a motorcycle wreck in western Dawson County Monday afternoon.

Chief Lanier Swafford, director of Dawson County Emergency Services, said the child was being flown by helicopter to Egelston Children's Hospital.

The child was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a parked car off Nugget Ridge Road, according to Dawson County Sheriff's Maj. Ray Goodie.

Emergency workers on scene said the child was unresponsive upon arrival.

The child was transported by ambulance to the helicopter landing zone at Atlanta Motorsports Park just after 6 p.m.
