Lakeland, FL : Motorcycle crash closes US 27/98 for an hour on Monday, January 16th 2017

Two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle closed part of U.S. 27/98 south of Frostproof early Monday evening.
Polk County Sheriff's spokesman Scott Wilder said Kay Williams of Avon Park was turning south from George Street onto U.S. 27/98 in a 2009 Chrysler minivan. As she crossed the northbound lanes, her van was struck by a 2006 Yamaha driven by Carlos Figueroa. Figueroa was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center with a broken leg. Williams was not injured. Wilder did not have ages for the drivers.Northbound traffic on the highway was shut down for about an hour. Wilder said a citation was pending, and that witnesses said the motorcycle appeared to be speeding.
